The business is owned by siblings Joy and Candice Planes both originally from Bacolod and now residing in Wentworth. THE 2014 Australian Multicultural Marketing Awards (AMMA) was officially launched by the Minister for Citizenship and Communities, Victor Dominello and the CEO of the Community Relations Commission Hakan Harkan last month 10 at NSW Parliament. Under the coordination of the CRC, the AMMA has been designed to showcase the achievements of organisations within the sphere of multicultural marketing arena. The awards recognise the achievements of government agencies, businesses and community groups which successfully implement marketing strategies tailored for culturally diverse communities. This year, the awards will celebrate 25 years of honouring multicultural marketers. Award categories cover the fields of Big Business, Small Business, Business Innovation, Arts and Culture, Communities, Youth, Communication, Public Sector and Education. Nominations close on October 10 2014 and winners will be announced at the Gala Presentation Ceremony at the Sydney Opera House on November 25. Ateneo Alumni officers The Ateneo Alumni Association of Australia (AAAA) elected Elaine Aviola as its new president with Tifi Avila as vice president. RISSA is an active member of the Labor Party in Greater Western Sydney. She was a founding member of the Filipino Friends of Labor and has played a major role promoting the party advocacies to the Filipino community. “I feel very honoured and proud to be a recipient of this McKell Award however this award rightfully belongs to those people who had faith and supported me in whatever I do,” she said. “Without them I won’t be where I am now and let alone be receiving this McKell award.” The McKell Award is a merit award given to celebrate the valuable contributions made by rank-and-file members to the Labor Party commemorating the legacy of Sir William McKell (NSW premier, 1941-47 and Australian governorgeneral, 1947-53). Rissa an active member of the Blacktown Community including the Blacktown Lions Club. She was nominated by the Marayong South Branch with the support of MP Michelle Rowland. Of Filipino and Chinese ancestry, Rissa has been married for 16 years to Paul McInnes. She continues to work for the Labor cause and major projects for the Filipi- no community. She played a major role in last year’s Western Sydney Haiyan Typhoon fundraising supported by ALP leaders which raised more than $20,000 and proceeds donated to the Haiyan typhoon victims in the Philippines. She has a long history of support for community organisations and contributes her time and resources generously to fundraisers. She is currently the vice president of the ALP Marayong Branch, vice president of the Blacktown Lions Club, director for Aguman Capampangan and director of Philippine Community Council (PCC) in NSW.
