The Alpha Phi Omega Sydney ‘Winter Wonder Dance 2’ will be held on August 29 at the Blacktown City Recreation and Bowling Club. The party night starts at 7pm with DJ and sounds provided by BPM. Winter Wonder Dance 2 follows on the success of last year’s dance party event organised by the APO Sydney. Tickets are at $25 per person (includes nibbles). Art show ‘Runaway with me’ ARTIST Therese Baylon will hold a solo painting exhibition at the Hunter’s hill Art Gallery from August 3 to 9 (6pm-8pm). Part of the proceeds of her exhibition will be donated to ‘All Hands Volunteers’, a non-profit organisation which built homes in Tacloban City after Typhoon Haiyan. Giveaway plants WANT to plant something this coming spring? The annual free travelling plant giveaways will be held by the Blacktown City Council starting this month until October. There are five giveaway sites across Blacktown City, one in each Ward, where residents can collect two plants per property from a selection of native and exotic species. Nursery staff will be onsite to assist residents to select plants that will be appropriate for their garden. There will be 2,500 plants available at each event to residents from the Blacktown City Local Government Area, so first in first served. Free plants will be given away on August 4 at The Village Green, Campbell Street, Blacktown from 9am-2pm; and on August 6 at the Dawson Mall in Mt. Druitt, 9am-2pm. Open to all Blacktown city residents. SEE the ‘Lovers Markets’ in Parramatta on August 29. The Lovers Market has been on every last Saturday of the month.
