Hearts bleed for little Julian
TRIBUTES from around the world have poured onto the Blacktown suburb of Lalor Park , grieving over the death of sevenyear-old resident Julian Cadman , killed in a terrorist attack on Thursday , August 17 , while holidaying with his mother Jumarie in Barcelona , Spain .
Fifteen other people died in the attack . At press time Jumarie , a Filipino- Australian , was recovering in a Spanish hospital after suffering serious injuries from the attack . Her husband Andrew has been at her side .
Meantime , the local Seven Hills community is holding a special fund-raising day for the Cadman family at Mackenzie Boulevard Park with entertainment , fun activities and appearances of some Olympic athletes . Proceeds go to the Julian ’ s family . A Facebook page in memory of Julian , a year 2 student at St Bernadette Primary School in Lalor Park , has received hundreds of posts from people the world over , many decrying the senseless nature of his death .
In a statement , Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop said the Government was " deeply saddened " by his death .
Blacktown mayor Stephen Bali said in a statement on Facebook that the terrorist attack had " directly touched Blacktown City " with Julian a student at St Bernadette ' s Catholic Primary School at Lalor Park .
" Julian , you were a much loved member of our local community whose life was tragically cut short , may you rest in peace ."
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson tweeted : " I send my sincerest sympathies to the family of Julian Cadman and all those who loved him ."
Julian ’ s family holds dual Australian and British citizenship .
Even British singer Geri Halliwell tweeted her condolences to Julian ' s family , saying her heart and prayers went out to them . •
" Julian , you were a much loved member of our local community whose life was tragically cut short , may you rest in peace ."
