Still sizzling with songs at 50
CRIZ Guce, one of Sydney's long-time
entertainers, has continued to capture the
hearts of Sydneysiders since her arrival in 1988.
By Violi Calvert
Guce turned 50 on Anzac Day.
What makes her special is being able to
overcome speaking and hearing problems to
pursue her passion for music.
Not only does Guce stammer and lisp
when she becomes nervous, but she is also
profoundly deaf. She has had ear operations
to help her hear better.
"The biggest achievement I consider
is seeing that I made a difference in many
people's lives through sharing my gift in
singing,” she said.
“Being able to be an instrument to help in
any way I can is more than enough for me to
feel that I am an achiever.”
Guce’s performances recently include
being the only singer for Ningbo Chamber
of Commerce at Parliament House in
Sydney and as the only singer at the Labor
Party's fund raising event for Chinese Youth
Overseas Students in Chinatown.
Other events were a Blacktown Ponds
Lions Club's fund raiser, PCC-NSW's PADER's
fund raiser Tulong Sa Pagsulong, the 28th
anniversary of Fr Eduardo Orilla’s priesthood,

She has also been invited to do a duet

"My advice to aspiring artist who may be
hesitating to follow their passion is to find
your true self, what your inner-being loves
doing the most,” Guce said.
