Duterte certifies anti-ENDO bill
as urgent -Palace
MANILA-- President Rodrigo
Roa Duterte has certified
as urgent a bill seeking to
prohibit labor-only contracting
or
“ENDO,”
Malacañang
announced
on
Tuesday,
September 25.
P r e s i d e n t i a l
Spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr.
said the President is pushing for
the immediate enactment into
law of Senate Bill No. 1826, or
the Security of Tenure and End
of Endo Act of 2018.
“Itong bersyon po ng
Senado ay nagbabawal sa lahat
ng labor-only contracting at
hindi po ini-exempt na itong mga
contractor ay malaki ang kapital
o maraming investments,” he
cited.
Roque was referring to
a provision in the existing Labor
Code allowing the practice of
labor-only contracting among
companies with substantial
capital or investments, which
could be in the form of tools,
equipment, machinery, or work
premises.

Coastal clean-up program

SSS Bacoor branch one of first 20 branches
to offer Pension Loan Program
Bacoor City, Cavite – In
celebration of the 61st founding
anniversary of the Social Security
System (SSS), a loan assistance
program for retiree pensioners
was launched.
The
Pension
Loan
Program (PLP) is a program
aimed to help senior citizens with
their short-term financial needs
to avoid falling prey to lending
companies
with
exorbitant
interest rates and steep payment
terms.
SSS President and Chief
Executive Officer Emmanuel
F. Dooc said, “, the launching
of this program is our way of
extending our assistance to our
dear pensioners. SSS would not
be able to reach 61 strong years
if not for the contributions of
our pensioners during the time
that they were still strong and
working.”
Dooc further explained
that, “All 171 branches of SSS
will accept PLP applications as
soon as our system is ready for
the full-scale implementation.
Our pensioners need not worry
if PLP is not yet available in SSS
branches nearest them because
they may apply in the first 20
branches.”
The said branches that
will accept PLP applications
are: Diliman, Kalookan, Pasig-
Pioneer (Shaw), New Panaderos
(Mandaluyong), Manila, Makati-

joined last Saturday (Sept.
22) the clean-up program held
in Naic Coastal National High
School, Barangay Labac.
This activity is done
yearly in observance of the
month of September being
the National Cleanup Month
with the Philippines ranking
first among 25 countries that
participated in international
coastal cleanup activities
organized by the Ocean
Conservancy organization, the
proponent of the International
Clean-up (ICC) – the world’s
largest volunteer effort for our
ocean and waterways.
With
this
year’s
theme “Tayo ang Solusyon
sa Polusyon” the Department
of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR) encouraged
everyone to participate in the
coastal clean-up activities
done worldwide.

the assembly and registration
of participants from the
students, faculty members
and staff of the school and
other volunteers from the
municipal government of Naic
