POOR
T
he Andhra Pradesh Government
has taken up an ambitious housing scheme for the poor and the
middle class sections. On the occasion of Ambedkar's birth anniversary

schemes. Besides as many as 1.50 lakh
houses under NTR housing upgradation
scheme would be repaired or renovated,
he said. About Rs. 42,000 crore was released for houses during the ten-year
Congress regime. However, only Rs.

touch with leading architects for
preparing the design of the houses.
According to sources, the government is
planning to utilise government lands
available in rural and urban areas for
construction of the proposed houses.
Since there is a shortage of government
land in towns and cities for taking up
housing schemes, the government is
planning to build multi-storeyed buildings in towns and independent houses
in rural areas.
The scheme will be only for those who
have not taken any form of benefit from
the housing schemes announced by the
state government in the past.
