Because if nothing else they find some nice company
Here’s an ode to those who said there were monsters back at home
And those who weren’t surprised
Because there are ghosts and demons in everyone’s hometown
Here’s an ode to those that had to pay a ransom for the words they sang as personal anthems
To those that abandoned common sense in eagerness to ignore the consequences
Here’s an ode to those who were promised that the stars would align
To those that were talked down to,
Instead of talked down
Here’s an ode to those that live life day to day
And to those that feel okay for the first time in a while
Here’s an ode to those whose words have already been sung
To those that got lost in translation
Here’s an ode to those who live in the shadow of their own reflection
To those that have no scars,
but are worse off than anyone’s best guess
To those vacant but loved spirits,
Those empty boxes labeled “handle with care”
Here’s an ode to those that burn bridges
Here’s an ode to the genuinely innocent
(Best wishes; hope you stay that way)
Here’s an ode to the rooftops that agree that you’re always going to win some and lost some
Here’s an ode to those for whom the worst is over
But they’ll never know
Here’s an ode
--Though I can’t find the words or the space-Here’s an ode to all of them
(Here’s an ode to you)
