YOGA

Yoga roared across the world on
December 11, 2014 when the United
Nations General Assembly adopted June
21st as International Yoga Day. This
India-led initiative made a greater, deeper
and firm impact on making the age old
art of well-being to be celebrated
internationally.
The initiative had 177 nations joining as
co-sponsors. This is worth mentioning
that, the Yoga scored the highest number
than any resolution in the 193 members
of UN General Assembly. And also this is
an initiative that has been proposed and
also implemented by a nation in the UN
body in less than 3 months.
Though Yoga is not unknown of its
benefits globally, but its emphasis to be a
part of the UN’s declaration makes it
even more prominent in regard to its
existence and being an essential for
lifestyle.
This remarkable initiative of India’s Prime
Minister, Honourable Narendra Modi that
is been proposed for June 21 of every
year, as the day has a unique
significance for being the longest day in
the
Northern
Hemisphere
and
prominence in many parts of the world
too! He further said that, “Yoga embodies
unity of mind and body; thought and
action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony
between man and nature; a holistic
approach to health and well-being.”
The International Yoga day stands proud
amongst all other 118 approximate
chosen International observance by the
UN.
