The Caribbean Action Plan for UNESCO
World Heritage got confirmed. The joint
meeting was organized amidst the World
Heritage Centre, UNESCO Offices in
Havana and Kingston, in collaboration
with the UNESCO Office in Port au
Prince, Haiti, with the financial support
of the Netherlands Funds-in-Trust at the
World Heritage Centre.
The meeting discussed various facets of
the Caribbean Action Plan and its
Capacity Building Programme 2014 –
2014 (CCBP) and emphasizing upon
matters relating to importance of
Caribbean in regard to World Heritage as
well as accountability for its stakeholders
as well for carrying ahead the concept.
The topics discussed were:
• Protection and Conservation
• Climate Change Impacts and
Management
• Community Participation
• Sustainable Tourism
• Capacity Building
• Nominations and Tentative Lists
• Work
• Alliances and Networking
Risk
The core idea is to approve a Subregional Action Plan for the Caribbean
based on Regional Action Plan for Latin
America and the Caribbean. This was
initially approved by States Parties in
Brasilia (May 2014) and the by the World
Heritage
2014).

The participants of the meeting involved
Focal Points from States Parties,
Universities, Advisory Bodies (ICOMOS –
ICCROM – IUCN), UNESCO World
Heritage Centre and the UNESCO offices
of Kingston, Havana and Port – au –
Prince.
The countries represented were Anguilla,
Grenada, Belize, Bahamas, Jamaica, St.
Lucia, St. Martin, The British Virgin
Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines,
Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and Cuba.
