8 / Aug. 2014 NEWS TREK The WOODSTOCK Musicals The Woodstock Music & Art Fair, famously known as the Woodstock Festival marks its 45th year. This festival tagged as the ‘3 Days of Peace & Music’ roars with lakhs of music and art lovers through decades and generations. It’s a free Summer Music Festival and biggest open-aired concert in Europe. This year in Poland the legendary Woodstock Festival happened from July 31, 2014 – August 3, 2014 dedicating to the purpose of ‘Love, friendship & Music’, organized by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation. Besides the stage events there are other activities initiated by organisations/missions like the Hare Krishna Movement, Academy of the Finest Arts, etc. This year events were packed with performances by T. Love, Protoje, SKID ROW, Hatebreed, Acid Drinkers, Marika, ACCEPT, The BossHoss, SHAMBOO and many more! The festival first launched in the year 1969, from August 15 – 18 at the Bethel in New York. It was an initiation of Michael Lang, John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, and Artie Kornfeld that have been spreading some of the greatest music and musical innovations. This auspicious date falls on the fourth day after the new moon in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. This festival marks the birth of the Hindu Elephant headed God ‘Ganesha’ who is believed to be the removal of obstacles. The ritual and the celebration of this eve continues till ten to eleven days with great devotion and zeal. Although it is widely celebrated in the places like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Karnataka, etc. but it is best enjoyed in Mumbai with overflow of devotees and festive atmosphere.
