To ensure you don’ t miss any of the major landmarks, we’ ve included a one day hop-on-hop-off sightseeing pass. The bus journeys through the heart of the city, with convenient stops allowing you to hop on and off as you wish. Sights include the White House, Capitol Hill, Jefferson Memorial, Smithsonian Castle and many more.
DAY 3 Washington, D. C.
Explore as you choose. If you didn’ t see it close up yesterday, start at the iconic Washington Monument- if you want to take in the view from the top, you must buy a ticket in advance online.
Alternatively, visit one or more of the incredible museums at the Smithsonian, all of which are free to enter. Make time to stroll the tree-lined avenues of historic Georgetown, or head across the Potomac River to the vast Arlington National Cemetery and see the final resting place of JFK. This evening, embark on a Monuments by Moonlight tour aboard an old-fashioned trolley which shows the memorials and monuments in a whole new light.
DAY 4 Washington, D. C.
Cram in another museum, take a free tour of the John F Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts or maybe browse a few shops. Later, head back to the airport for your onward journey. Alternatively, why not extend your stay and visit another east coast city?
