Amtrak Rail Travel

More than just getting from place to place

Amtrak are the largest passenger rail company in the USA, offering travel to over 500 destinations across 46 states on a 21,000 mile route system.

Opposite, you’ ll find just a very small selection of the many routes offered by Amtrak, with prices shown including a roomette.

What’ s on Board?

Most trains offer a choice of travel class( see below) plus many trains have one or more onboard food options. Short distance trains have a Café Car; medium and long distance trains offer a Lounge Car, and long distance trains usually have a full-service Dining Car serving hot meals.

Classes of Travel

Many services offer a choice, but they do vary by train or route:-

Coach Class

Available on every Amtrak train and features wide, reclining seats with ample legroom, at-seat trays, reading lights and electric outlets.

Business Class

A premium, enhanced experience offered on most Amtrak services. Features vary by route, but always give you extra legroom along with a wide and comfortable seat in a dedicated car or section of the train.

First Class

Exclusive to Amtrak Acela( operating in the Northeast Corridor). First Class passengers enjoy priority boarding, premium amenities, complimentary onboard food and beverage services plus privileged access to selected station lounges. Seat selection is also offered.

Sleeper Accommodation

Roomettes, bedrooms, and suites feature on most long-distance routes. Enjoy reclining seats in your cabin by day that convert to sleeper accommodation at night, panoramic windows, meals and selected non-alcoholic drinks, access to shower facilities( some categories have ensuite bathrooms), a dedicated attendant and lounge access at major stations.
