November 2019 TECHNICITY ISSUE #03 Business Technology + Synchronicity SYNCHRONICITY IN ACTION “You don’t see luck as an accident. It’s a meaningful synchronicity.” ~ Will Hipps B ack in June, we found out that Angelica, a member of our admin team who had been working with us part-time for the past few years, was offered an internship opportunity at Turner Construction and, as a result, would no longer be able to continue working at A M Exclusive. We had hoped that she would have been able to stay with us for another year, but at the same time, we were extremely happy for her as the internship aligned with her current studies in architecture at Pratt University. As a small business, we have not had to hire too often, as most of our employees have stayed with us once they have joined our team. So the thought of having to find someone to replace Angelica was weighing greatly on our minds! It is only natural to feel uncomfortable having to do something you do not do often. About a week later, Claudia (a representative of the office cleaning service we utilize) approached my team and let them know that her daughter, Fiorella, was looking for a part-time opportunity. She had NO idea that Angelica was leaving us, and we had not even begun to put out any employment ads. A week after that, Michelle and Arasele interviewed Fiorella (whom we found out is currently studying business operations at Baruch College, making her an excellent match for us as well as making us an excellent match for her), and we hired her the next day! We had no need to spend time seeking resumes from other candidates and filled the job much faster than we expected. I’m happy to report that four months later, Fiorella has become a great addition to our team, and we are so thankful our paths have aligned! Have you experienced synchronicity in business? I’d love to hear your story. Reach out to me at [email protected]. - Jaclyn Morse, Vice President
