Throwback to Busko ’94 – Remembering our DBTC Mandaluyong Journey By: Anthony “Doogie” Dugenia Every after 25th year of graduating from high School, Don Bosco Alumni Silver Jubilarian hosts the homecoming event. This year, 2019, Batch ’94 will spearhead the celebration to commemorate our journey as Sons of Don Bosco. This year’s theme: Throwback to Busko ’94. Batch ’94 are among the generations who they call now as Generation X. This is the generation in between the Baby Boom- ers and Millennials. This is the generation of young men who witnessed most ideas from before, that were made into reality. The internet, Wireless Communications, Mobile Gadgets, and the likes have prospered and grew during this generation. And while enjoying these technological advancement, Generation X main- tained a more personal interaction to their surroundings. This generation witnessed how fast-paced life have become. This year’s theme will take us back to the basics. It aims to rekindle our connections with our Friends, Classmates, Teachers, Spiritual Advisers, priests, who have honed and affected who we are today. This year, we will celebrate our successes and fail- ures, that whatever challenges life throw at us, we will rise and prosper! Batch ’94 is proud to have produced Engineers, Doctors, Educators, Public Officials and the list goes on... However, it gives us more pride to have produced Loving Husbands, Respon- sible fathers, Scrupulous Public Servants, righteous neighbors and God-fearing individuals. To Throw us back to the characters and common traits of each Batch ‘94’s Sections, as described in Memoirs ’94 Yearbook, may we present the sections of Batch ’94. (In no particular order) 410 – Electronics One of the Electronics classes of the batch, this class is composed of all sorts of people who excel in various fields. They’ve achieved a lot of things during their high school years, but their greatest achievement is the fact that they have stuck together and maintained a strong bond which makes them a one big Happy family. Up to this day, even if some members are already scattered around the globe, they maintained a strong connection among themselves. 420 – Electronics They are the “Noisy” and “Makukulit” Electronic Class of Batch 94, but definitely not a bunch of nutshells. They just want to enjoy every inch of their high school life. Considered one of the “crème” sections, as who can doubt that accolade when they have the Batch Valedictorian, and few other academ- ic awardees. Amidst their academic excellence, they also excel in extra-curricular activities. As they say, when 420 is called, 420 delivers! And the same is proven up to this point as they have one of the most participation (Both Moral support and Financial support) in this year’s Alumni Homecoming through the Batch ’94 Alumni Homecoming Action Team. 430 – industrial Drafting They claim to be the “record holders” of the batch. First, they are the smallest class of the year’s batch, they claim to be the “cutest” and lastly, they landed their letter apparently made it to a national paper. Though their number is small, this year, they have represented the Batch ’94 Alumni Homecoming Action Team very significantly. 440 – Industrial Electricity This section is the party-to-party-goers of batch ’94, the hop-in-for-a-joy-ride fanatics. They indeed had fun during their high school days but that did not stop them to meet dead- lines and deliverables. True enough, those years of “gimmicks” taught them responsibility, respect and time management. This is evident with where members of the section are now in their career, their family and personal life. 8 450 – Computer 450 is Batch ‘94’s largest class, in numbers and in achievements! The 52 members produced the Batch’s Salutato- rian, Service awardees, most number of ROTC officers and the list goes on. Surprisingly, each have their own cup of tea, often opposing entities. They had units instead of Unity. Amidst all this, the section found their way to unite and make the most out of their high school life. Up to this day, it’s hard to bring even 10% of the class together, BUT all are in unity in helping the Batch ’94 Alumni Homecoming Action Team, both financially and through utmost support through their unwavering service to the team. 460 – Mechanics The “Bakal Boys” was the cognomen given to them for their field of specialization in Mechanics. However, they are not the typical guys around the corner. They are strong, and smart. They are leaders in their own ways. They got what it takes to defy the future, in a BOSCONIAN way! Fast-forward to the “future”, the present day holds true to the section’s vision as they have produced successful individuals in various field of endeavors. Their involvement in the Batch ’94 Alumni Homecom- ing action team is something worth commending. The Journey of Batch ’94, our Silver Jubilarians for 2019, con- tinues. We want to give our utmost gratitude to our Families, Friends, Teachers, DB Alumni Association, The Salesian Com- munity and to our fellow Batch ’94 Silver Jubilarians for all the memories and lessons in life. To our Fallen comrades who have joined the Lord, may our prayers and love resonate to the heav- ens. Indeed, what a journey, it has been… Pay it forward! Once a Bosconian, always a Bosconian. – This has always been every Bosconian’s Mantra. The pride we have for getting the Salesian education is without a doubt, something most Alumni would treasure. As such, Batch ’94 would like to thank the Salesian community of Don Bosco Technical College Mandaluy- ong, by paying them forward through improvement projects for the school. Below are Batch 94’s, Class 420 Current projects for DBTC Mandaluyong, Donated by Richard Tame Cruz of Class 420, CEO and President of CATA Construction Philippines Corporation. • Construction and Rehabilitation of the Millennium Gate • Don Bosco Signage at the Front Gate • Purchase and Installation of CCTV Surveillance System at the front gate • Rehabilitation of Student Pathways • Supply and installation of LED lights Note: Previous project done for the benefit of DBTC Mandaluyong is the UGB MMA (Mix-Martial Arts) event (first in the history of Don Bosco) held in the school Gymnasium lead by UGB (Under Ground Battle) MMA former President Richard Tame Cruz.
