Cadet of the Season Congratulations to Cadet Tyrer, for being chosen as the Cadet of the Summer Season, by the cadet Senior Non-Commissioned Officers. He has been chosen for his excellent effort towards maintaining his uniform and for his enthusiasm towards activities. Our faces were a picture! By Cadet L. Pritchard The squadron arrived at Nesscliff Training Camp on the evening of Friday 20th June ready for the annual competitions between squadrons in our wing, West Mercian Wing! So through the gates we entered. First we found are dorms. They consisted of an old tin shelter with sleeping space for ten. After a briefing, we spent the rest of the night preparing our Light Blues uniform for the next day! An early start Saturday morning at 0630hrs we changed into our Greens uniform and headed for breakfast. 2497 Cosford Squadron cadets who were entered into the squadron drill competition waited until our turn at 1230hrs; during which other squadron cadets attended competitions in First Aid, Shooting and Modelling. Since we were scheduled to do the competition during lunchtime – the squadron were at the front of the queue for lunch! Following the day’s events, all squadrons formed up in Light Blues, ready to form up as a Wing on the Parade Square – in preparation for the announcements of the day’s winners. Once again, it was an early start on the final day of the weekend; and it looked like a sunny day. Some of the main competition events were orienteering, aircraft recognition and shooting. Other than these, the Wing had planned a fantastic list of fun activities varying from target paintballing to plank drill (rifle drill with a plank!). Squadron! My face and Cadet Eccleston’s face was a picture; we couldn't believe we won, especially since I had to finish early! That concluded a fantastic weekend of representing our squadron, meeting new people and experiencing new adventures. ● Cadets Pritchard and Eccleston with their award At 1300hrs, Cadet Eccleston and I represented the squadron in the orienteering competition. Unfortunately, it was too hot and I started feeling unwell and had to finish early. At that point Cadet Eccleston and I had five points. Luckily, we were scored on how fast we found the orienteering markers. To conclude the day, all of the squadrons entered the presentation hall,
