Pleasurable and
action packed
knew and the crowd loved it!
By Cadet C. Vince
It’s summer carnival time and
the band’s diary is full of fantastic events to keep the
crowds entertained at various
summer events.
Newport carnival is a very
vibrant show and most of the
community gets involved. The
younger children compete to
design the most inventive
floats and colourful costumes.
Our squadron band is most important to any carnival event
because it’s not going to be a
good event without music is it?

stops, playing every tune they
The weather was quite
fortunate to us providing a hot,
sunny day for all however the
heat proved a challenge while
carrying your instruments so
we had a quick water stop.
Hundreds had turned out to
the carnival; everyone looked
happy and was enjoying the
carnival atmosphere. The Irish
Guards from Ternhill lead the
parade with their bagpipes
while our band was at the
rear; we were kindly joined by
some Newport air cadets collecting money.
When

ready to cool down and enjoy
the carnival spirt. There were
plenty of things to see and do
myself, Cadet Jarvis and Cadet
Bowden started off at the ice
cream van before buying more
sweets and then wandering
around the buzzing stalls and
acts; there were even fair
rides at the bottom of the field
for all to enjoy!
After a pleasurable and
action packed day all cadets
and staff were proud of the efforts made and look forward to
another eventful experience
