Altitude 2497 COSFORD SQUADRON Friday was our last full day on camp, an all day hill walk had been planned. However, the weather stopped us and so instead, we went swimming and indoor rock climbing! By this point of the week we were all shattered but still no one wanted to go home, and after the lads breaking the ceiling fan and roof tiles we’re surprised the staff didn't hate us! All in all it really was a fantastic week, I would recommend it to everyone and I’d love to go again myself!! Thank you for picking myself and the other cadets to go, it was a truly unforgettable week, best camp so far! Cosford Air Show The famous annual ‘Cosford Ai r Show’ took place on the 17th of June. As usual the air display was spectacular and raised smiles on the face of every spectator. The cadets were invited to bring the band again and once we’d played our slot we but down our instruments and went off to our assigned duties. Some cadets were placed by displayed aircraft to give information to the public about them. Others were asked to help out on the mobile climbing wall we were running. Cadets who were not assigned a job got the chance to look around the stalls before swapping duties. The day ran smoothly with the weather only letting us down with one heavy shower before brightening up for classic display from the Red Arrows. Cadet of the Month – June Congratulations to Cadet Rowlands on achieving Cadet of the Month. He was chosen by the NCO team for showing great commitment towards cadet activities and being an all round excellent team player. Well done!! Wing Training On the 10th of June the squadron took part in wing training day. This is a hugely anticipated event throughout the wing as its where all the squadrons in the wing come together at Cosford to compete in a wide range of events from First Aid to Aircraft Recognition. But the one that all squadrons prepare the most for is the highly competitive drill. Each squadron is issued a sequence of manouvres they are expected to learn. This year to prepare, we sought the help of an RAF Cpl who took the drill team up to the drill square and helped us to perfect our routine. On the day nerves were running high especially from Sgt. Collins who was leading our team. We performed to the best of our ability however unfortunately it wasn’t enough to earn us 1st but we did come 5th. We gained some other achievements obtaining an overall 11th place. Well done guys now lets start preparing for next year!!!!! Page 3 Please feel free to give feedback to [email protected]
