2497 COSFORD SQUADRON
The day was long, but to end it the Cadets had been
asked to provide a guard of honor for the Royal party leaving Cosford. It is nice to think that the Queen’s
last memories of Cosford will be seeing the 255 Cadets lining the road out of Cosford. A great and memorable day all-round.
Cyprus Camp
This year the squadron was invited to participate in
the overseas camp in Troodos, Cyprus. Sgt. B. Giles
was lucky enough to get a place on the camp. She
writes to tell us how she got on.
“I was selected from the region to be one of the 36
cadets to be lucky enough to go to Cyprus on the
summer camp. After an early start on the 19th July
travelling from our individual squadrons throughout
the UK we all met at Heathrow airport, we then flew
to Cyprus. This journey gave us plenty of time to get
to know each other. Checking in at Cyprus airport
Albrighton Fayre
On Saturday July 14th the Squadron band was asked

proved a little more entertaining than expected! Being unable to find my passport, the plane was
searched and eventually I discovered it had been in
my bag the whole time. I don’t think I will ever I will
ever live this down. We arrived at our accommodation in the Troodos Mountains to find we were in
shared rooms which were quite nice and the facilities
for meals and down time were very comfortable.
The parade was headed by a tractor so keeping the
slow pace was hard work. However the Cadets did
well and played to the best of their ability. At the
end of the parade the hot and tired Cadets swapped
their instruments for the bottles of water that had
been kindly provided for which they were all grateful.
Great effort guys.
Over the course of my time in Cyprus we visited a
number of places including Ayia Napa, Limassol,
