Marching proud By Cadet I. Norris-Jones The first approbation parade of Albrighton was on the 8th of August 1998. Our Approbation parade was on the 7th of September 2013 ‘as a tribute to the glorious traditions of the Royal Air Force and in recognition of Sixty Years close association between the Royal Air Force Station, Cosford and our village of Albrighton’, as it is quoted. On the day, the squadron band led the Royal Air Force parade through the high street of Albrighton. The parade was described as “with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, bands playing and colours flying”. My contribution to the parade was playing the Bell Lyre, I did this proudly and really enjoyed the day. I liked the atmosphere of the occasion; I’d highly recommend the band and encourage anyone to join the squadron too. There were lots of people watching and filming, on the squadron YouTube channel there is a video of us. If I had the opportunity to take part in the parade again I would, as it was a memorable day and the vibe was brilliant. ? Video: www.bit.ly/approbation2013 Simple skills save lives By Cadet E.
