2497 COSFORD SQUADRON
4nd May 2012
April
Weston Park
This month, 2497 Cosford Squadron
were invited back to the Weston Park
Horse Trials together with Cadets from
Shawbury and Dawley Squadrons.
The event took place on the weekend
commencing Friday 13th April. Despite
the cold weather, the majority of the
cadets stayed warm enough to provide a useful service to the public and
participants.
On arrival, all 62 cadets and the staff
from the three squadrons set up camp
and settled down. The evening was
relaxed and all the cadets were given
food from the local fish and chip shop.
It was an early start to Saturday
morning as teams of Cadets were dispatched to their posts in the lorry
park, crossing points, dressage field.
and the horse jumping arena.

The night exercise was set up by the staff
and it consisted of team Vulture (the bad
guys) team Merlin (the good guys) and a
team of Paparazzi who were after a good
story for the morning paper. The aim of the
exercise being to rescue the British Olympic
hopefuls (Horse and Jockey) before they
could be abducted by Team Vulture on behalf of a Columbian horse breeder. Both
teams had to seek out Agents to impart vital
information. One group took it so seriously,
they even knocked on the door of the Folly
within Weston Park and uttered the code
words to the bemused occupant who just
wanted a quiet night in, with a can of beer
and the telly!!!
