High School Golf continued
Elena Tomasetti has been coaching the Red
Bluff High School girl’s golf team for years, and
she says the most important thing she teaches to
her team is integrity on the course. She told me
“I don't care what their final score is as long as it
was an honest game.”
I asked Coach Daniels and Coach Tomasetti
to please describe some memorable moments
they've had this season so far.
Coach Daniels told me “I've enjoyed the
positive response I've seen in some girls who got
a taste of "varsity" play. That has caused a
couple of them to really commit to learning and
improving, even to the extent of getting their
family to invest in private lessons. I always
enjoy our van trips to away matches when the
girls relax and ‘get goofy’ on the ride.”
Elena shared with me that before every
match, her and her team would set individual
goals and a team score goal. When they hit their
team goal, Elena would buy the team a
milkshake or frozen yogurt. If they missed the
team goal, she would buy any individual who hit
their personal goal a treat to celebrate their
victory. Elena claims “It's so fun seeing their
faces when they walk in knowing they hit or beat
their goal!”
I gained much more through my four years
on the Girls Golf Team at Woodcreek than I
thought I would. Not only did I improve my golf
game with every practice and match that I
attended, but I made memories that will never
fade with friends that are still close to me today.
