STEM Events
This term many of our Year 9 and 10 students took part in a range of STEM activities , both at All Saints School and Yeovilton . In Yeovilton we had 2 Year 10 teams compete to design and test a successful landing system for an aircraft carrier . After a few obstacles both groups did very well and one of our teams came 3rd - many congratulations . We also had 60 Year 9 students work with Bournemouth University to solve a range of Forensics activities to discover “ Who
Killed Rudolph ”. Blood spatter analysis , foot tread and DNA extraction were some of the exciting activities and all the pupils who participated commented on how enjoyable and ' different ' the day was .
Looks like we have some budding Scientists in the making !
Mr Bennett
Rugby : The lower school rugby teams have been training hard this term and doing particularly well . Well done to the Year 7 team who came third in their recent tournament and the Year 8 team made history when they came first - fantastic .
Football : It has been quiet on the football front this half term with just the Year 10 team competing in the County Cup . They won their first round on penalties and proceed to the next round . I know they have high hopes for how well they could do this year and we wish them lots of luck .
Netball : Year 7 Girls battled it out with Budmouth this week , Team A lost 14-7 and Team B lost 9-4 . This gap has narrowed significantly since the previous meet due to the regular attendance of a large group of girls at after school practise every week . We wish them every success on their continued improvement .
Visiting reptiles
Ecology club had a special visitor this week . His name was Dave and he is a 3m long Bermese python , weighing in at a massive 30kg . Dave is looked after by Rolan Nantes who is the father of Pheobe , an ecology club member . Rolan is an enthusiastic supporter of our Ecology club and was kind enough to bring Dave along and told us all about keeping large snakes .
