I am very passionate about wolves. They are my favorite animals, and my small connection to nature. I love the way wolves work together in a pack. Wolves work together in packs, always helping each other out. I wanted my family to work like this, because we always get into big arguments over small things, unlike wolves, who play-fight for fun. Not only do I like wolves and their packs, but I also liked how they resembled dogs in a way. They, to me, were like big, even fluffier, dogs (with more bite). It makes me sad to know that they are in danger and face so many challenges in our society.
Gray wolves face many challenges in the wild. I set out to find a challenge that I could intervene with, to help the wolves. The challenge I found, is the existence of humans are affecting them. Some cause of wolves being affected by humans are wolves are seen as predators. Their habitat keeps getting smaller. They have limited protection, and are being killed by humans. Humans and wolves cannot communicate, and humans aren’t aware of the wolves’ situation. Some of the effects of those causes, are livestock surviving longer, elk populations rising, gray wolf population’s decrease, conservationists are unhappy, and there is conflict and controversy. Looking at the causes, I asked “why” multiple times to find the root(s) of the causes. There are many root causes, but the one that affects the challenge the most is that humans don’t know about the wolves’ situation.
