“One,” has an interesting rhythm pattern and structure that keeps you listening over and over. And now we come to the showstopper, “America,” the song that makes you wish these guys had taken this record on the road and let these songs breathe, I can only imagine what they could have done with this one. I find it impossible (for me at least) to not play this song twice before I let “Sleepyhead,” start, with it’s campfire-esque acoustic guitar and laugh. The acoustic guitar playing on this one highlights Dave’s abilities on his axe that sometimes get overlooked. As we approach the end of the record, the band opens the final stretch with “Wait for History,” another song that begs to be played live. You would think the 1 minute 9 second acoustic number, “That is All,” would be the album closer, but nope, the band sneak in one more number. “Kilo,” which opens with the band already playing and fading in, at which point the proceed to jam out for 2 minutes to finish the album on a high note. This is one of my desert island discs, has been since that hot July day when I bought it will be on that list until the trio of Eric Avery, Dave Navarro and Michael Murphy release a record that tops it. -Johnny Spice
