FERYAL ÖZEL

WHO IS SHE? sHe was born in Istanbul in 975. Feryal Özel, who is a mother and father of doctors, graduated from Üsküdar American High School (1992) and received her Physics and Applied Mathematics education at Columbia University in 1996 with her second and high honors degree. He spent the following year at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, and at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he completed his master's degree in physics.

After a year in Europe, he returned to the USA and was accepted into Harvard University's doctoral program. In 2002, he completed his doctorate on astrophysics. He married astrophysicist Demetrios Psaltis in 2001. She had two daughters, Deniz and Selin, from this marriage.

In the last year of his PhD program, Ozel moved to Tucson, Arizona and earned a Hubble post-doctorate scholarship. He worked at Princeton Institute of Advanced Studies in 2002-2005. In 2003, he was known for being included in the "Big Ideas" list with the world's most renowned scientists and for his contributions in the field of Neutron stars, black holes and magnetags. He continues his studies at the University of Arizona.

He has received many awards for his work on astrophysics. In addition to his scientific studies, he publishes scientific articles in popular publications and is frequently featured in documentary programs on PBS, History Channel, and CNN channels. An active athlete, marathon and tirathlon.
