Sporty fun at Friendly City Days

The Albertville Friendly City Days festival seems to have it all, and some good old-fashioned friendly competition is no exception. Softball and hockey tournament activities will be taking place all weekend. Men’ s Slow Pitch Softball: The Knights of Columbus will host its annual men’ s slow pitch softball tournament. Twenty-four teams will play for a $ 1,200 firstplace prize in this year’ s slow

For baseball lovers, the Albertville Anglers will play an alumni game at 6:30 p. m. on Friday and challenge the Becker Bandits at 3 p. m. on Saturday at the Central Park baseball field. There are plenty of food options planned for the Albertville Friendly City Days festival, running Wednesday, June 10 to Sunday, June 14. Grab some refreshing lemonade at Alex’ s Lemonade Stand 4-7 p. m. Thursday, June 11, on Main Avenue. Next, North Wright County Riverhawks Hockey will have hot dogs, brats, chips and drinks from 5:30-9 p. m. at the ballfields shelter concession stand. That same day, the 12th annual Craft Beer Night, sponsored by the Albertville Fire Relief Association, will be from 6-10 p. m. at the Central Park beer garden. Tickets are $ 25 and will allow patrons to choose from a variety of different sizes of craft beers brewed in the Minnesota region. Live music from Prairie Smoke Road and this year’ s outstanding citizen recognition will occur throughout Craft Beer Night. STMA High School boys hockey will host a pork chop dinner 3:30-7 p. m. Friday, June 12, at the farmers market shelter at Central Park.
On Saturday, June 13, the Church of St. Albert will host a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a. m. at the parish center, 11400 57th St. NE. A breakfast of pancakes, sausages and caramel rolls will be served with a freewill offering. The Albertville Royalty candidates will also host a spaghetti dinner at the Church of St. Albert parish center that day, with plates up for grabs from 4-6 p. m. Admission for adults is $ 10, seniors and children $ 7. The carnival will have a host of food options to choose from, beginning at 4 p. m. Wednesday and through the entirety of the festival Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be food trucks with ice cream, Mexican food, Chinese food and mini donuts. Other foods for purchase include kettle corn, ice cream, pizza, hotdogs, brats and burgers. No matter when or where you find yourself at Albertville Friendly City Days, there is sure to be a tasty option just around the corner.
