Plenty of activities for children and families at City Days
Young ones will have plenty to do at Albertville Friendly City Days. Wednesday, June 10, will kick off a weekend of kid-friendly activities with family bingo sponsored by Family Youth Community Connections from 5-7 p. m. at the farmers market shelter. Head over to the carnival at that same time, you might just meet one of your favorite superheroes. The carnival will host a roaming Batman and Joker from 5-7 p. m. On Thursday, the Wonderful World of Woody Show, a children’ s entertainer, will perform at 5 p. m. in the farmer’ s market shelter. The Central Park Depot plaza will be quite the spectacle beginning at 6 p. m., with an awe-inspiring aerial art performance by St. Michael dance studio Eureka Aerial. Families can also grab an air balloon ride hosted by RE- MAX. Rides will be tethered at the park baseball field, weather permitting at 7 p. m. Friday might be the best evening to keep children up past their bedtime with an impressive fireworks display scheduled to begin at 10 p. m. Fireworks are launched from the
Central Park ballfields. Bring a chair or blanket and arrive early to grab a spot in or near Central Park. In the event of rain, fireworks will be moved to Saturday. On Saturday, there are more opportunities for fun. From 9 a. m.-noon, the Albertville Fire Department will display their trucks outside the fire hall for
photo ops and for curious little firefighters-in-training to explore and ask questions. The Albertville Royalty candidates will also be at the fire hall to provide a complimentary sweet treat. From 9-11 a. m., the royalty program will host a root beer float with the candidates meet and greet. Afterwards, head to the Central Park playground to get a fancy new up-do for the day at the Fair Hair booth. KMC Dance takes the stage at 11 a. m. with dances and craft activities for all ages at their studio( across from the farmers market shelter at Central Park). Next, be wowed by the Don B. comedy and juggling show at 1 p. m. at the farmers market

On Sunday, the Grande Day parade will be the main attraction, beginning at 12:30 p. m. Families can catch the coronation of Albertville’ s newest royalty at 4:30 p. m. at the STMA High School Auditorium at 5800 Jamison Ave. NE., St. Michael.
But what about the carnival? Don’ t worry – people can get all of their carnival cravings fulfilled every day of the festival at Albertville’ s Central Park., 11400 58th St. NE. Ride ticket sheets will be on sale at several participating businesses at a discounted rate of $ 20. Participating businesses include 152 Club, Ace Hardware, Amoco, BJ’ s Sports Tavern, Bravera Bank, Center Cut Meats, Coborn’ s, Don’ s Auto, Emma’ s Express, Kremer’ s Toy & Hobby, Neighbors Saloon and Eatery, Premier Bank and Westside Liquor. Tickets will be available for purchase at ticket booths on site during carnival hours. Rides will require three to six carnival tickets if purchased on site. Tickets are $ 1 each and can be purchased individually or in sheets. Wednesday and Sunday will be children’ s wristband days, a good way to jam pack an evening or afternoon with as many rides as possible for one price. Wristbands are $ 25 and will be sold at the carnival ticket booths. Wristbands will only be valid on the day of purchase.
