Setting the stage Professional development Event Management programs that will appeal to both beginners and seasoned professionals Whether you’re just looking to get into event planning, or if you’ve been in the industry for a while, there is something for everyone at these Event Management programs. Event management is so much more than just picking a venue and plan- ning the décor and meals– there are other factors that need to considered such as event proposals, production schedules, marketing/communication, contracts, budgets, and risk management. Here is a look at a few of the more robust Event Management courses available in Alberta. NAIT Event Management Certificate Total Hours: 175 Course Style: Evening and weekend courses in classroom Program Setup: There are two mandatory courses (Event Management Foundations and a Capstone Project). You can then choose to specialize in either Program Planning or Operations and work through those courses. To fulfill the final hours, there are a range of electives you get to choose from. There are boot camps available for both the Program Planning and Operations specializa- tions. They are each a three-week full-time program that covers the specialization require- ments. You will still need to do the two mandatory courses and the electives as regularly scheduled. Note: Several courses in this program are eligible as continuing education credits towards your CMP designation.
