General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Engr. Akin Onimole, stated this during the courtesy visit to the Agency by a Bangor University team led Professor Dermot Cahill, Dean, School of Law and Director of the Institute of Competition and Procurement Studies. He stated that the Institution is the first University to initiate collaboration efforts with the Agency in the area of capacity building and certification, which is essential to the procurement cadre in the civil service. Engr. Onimole noted that the collaboration is expected to further strengthen government's capacity building for procurement officers which the Agency had commenced T since 2012 when it was established, adding that about 250 officers had been converted into the procurement cadre in the state civil service. Also speaking at the event, the Director – General, Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabanwo, commended the collaboration initiative, stressing that necessary knowledge and skills would be acquired by procurement officers, to further assist them in the discharge of their official duties and responsibilities to the state. Responding on behalf of his team, Professor Dermot Cahill, stated that the visit was to offer long and short term assistance, as well as special training for procurement officers in the state public service, adding that the university is ready to train leaders in procurement, in order to further assist government in identifying procurement problems, achieve implementable reports, offer training on procurement jurisprudence and equally support the staff with needed materials in procurement.
