16 ALAUSA ALERT, January 2014 PROJECT WATCH AGILITI NETWORK OF ROADS AGILITI NETWORK OF ROADS Fashola Inspects On-going Projects D esirous of completing on-going projects before leaving office, Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) and his team have intensified project monitoring across the state. The site visits have enabled the Governor assess the quality and pace of projects. At Kosofe and Ikorodu axis, the team were at Akanimodo and Igbogbo housing estates, as well as the 1.8 kilometres Agiliti road in Mile 12, to assess the level of work done. An elated Governor Fashola who commended the quality of work done, said the team was on the road to ascertain challenges being faced by contractors and how such could be jointly solved. He stated that work on the housing estate has reached an appreciable level, with tiling, fixing of doors and plastering being undertaken. On the roads works, he expressed satisfaction with progress recorded on the Mile 12 road for which about nine bridges have been completed though the contractor has been contending with people parking on the road . He explained that government's ultimate intention is to enable people pass through that route on their way to Lagos and also leave through Ibeshe road and Awolowo road under construction but moving towards Akanimodo Housing Estate Awolowo Road Ikoyi completion. He disclosed that ten more inner city roads are under construction in the area and would be completed before the end of the year. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done and urged the contractor to move faster and complete the project as scheduled. On the Home Ownership Mortgage Scheme (HOMs) houses under construction in various parts of the state, Fashola gave the assurance that allocation of the houses will commence this year. He said he was aware of the citizens anxiety and called on them to bear with government , as it was not just about handing over the houses but putting in place life long assets. “For us it is just not about building houses and give to people. We want to use this opportunity to solve that problem once and for all in Lagos so that the next government will only continue from where we stopped. So we are ensuring that there is enough supply of houses so that once we start we don't stop again and people can now really see hope that they will get on that ladder and become a house owner. All the conditions that will take us there include payment of tax, residency, so you must go and register. We won't build houses with tax payers' money in Lagos
