ALAUSA ALERT, January 2014

NEW YEAR MESSAGE OF THE HEAD OF SERVICE,
MRS JOSEPHINE OLUSEYI WILLIAMS
TO LAGOS STATE PUBLIC SERVANTS
Fellow public servants, it is indeed
heart- warming to welcome you all to
2014, a New Year laden with much
promises of good expectations. We
must give immense gratitude to the
Almighty God whose Divine Grace
has kept us well through 2013 and
granted us the privilege to see Year
2014.
In fact, our coming together today is
primarily to thank Almighty God for
this great opportunity and commit
our affairs and that of the state in His
Holy Hands, extend hand of
fellowship to colleagues and reaffirm
our loyalty, vow our commitment
and assert our rededication to duty
and to the State's vision and mission.
Having fortified ourselves with this
first working day prayer, and with
sincerity of purpose and genuine
subscription to our avowed pledges,
we have every reason to hope for
better results and more rewards in
2014 and other years ahead.
I must acknowledge and appreciate
your very satisfactory contributions
to the progress of the Service and the
implementation of the State's policies
and programmes in the year 2013.
However, within the framework of the
Service Charter, I am very positive that
we can, and we should do more, and
strive to be outstanding to make far
reaching impacts across all sectors to
bring greater benefits and satisfaction to
the general public.
If we can do this, we would engender
high public support and create a better
working environment and position this
Administration for accelerated
realization of its mission to eradicate
poverty and achieve sustainable
economic growth that will move us
nearer our noble vision of an ideal Mega
City.
This is the time for reflection and selfappraisal of our activities, roles and
responsibilities in 2013, to identify
where we excel and take note of our
shortcomings, to assess our capabilities
and examine the opportunities that now
exist, and thus scale up efforts in the
New Year for greater results. These, I
believe, we can do very well.
Before our eyes, Lagos is rapidly
transforming. Thanks to all of us. But,
now more than ever before, there is the
need for us to show more commitment,
determination and competence to
achieve far reaching successes.
Remember what our leader and
Governor always says: “The reward for
hard work is more work.”
In the face of dwindling Federal
allocation coming from the center
coupled with the ever expanding
requirements to drive an emerging
mega city like ours, it is imperative for
us to individually and collectively, do
more than ever before. We cannot relax
or relent on our efforts, as we have
higher stake and greater responsibility
to meet our targets and overcome the
challenges ahead.
Let me formally extend the appreciation
of the State Government and especially
that of our amiable Governor, His
Excellency, Mr. Babatunde RajiFashola
(SAN), the Deputy Governor, Her
Excellency Princess Adejoke Orelope-
Adefulire and indeed all our political
heads at MDAs to all public servants
in the State. On this note, I heartily
welcome all of you back to work and
wish you a most rewarding and
fulfilling 2014
Thank you and God bless.
Eko o ni baje o.
J.O. Williams
