There are plenty of people who do not support the concept of beauty contests. What would you tell someone who happened to think this way?

I believe in beauty with a purpose, it’s your heart that makes you beautiful. Beauty pageants simply allow girls to tap into that inner beauty and match that with their outer charm. Moreover, beauty contests help girls to think quickly on their feet and react well under pressure. It also tests their compatibility and how easily they can adapt to a situation. I believe beauty contests boost the confidence of the girls and gives them an opportunity to get to know themselves better.

For many Reschelle has become a role model of some sort, having been the junior mayor in 2018, top student in the Khomas region for additional mathematics and life science in 2017 as well as being Deputy Head girl of Windhoek High School 2019. She has such a multitude of accolades, that one can simply not fathom how she manages to get everything done. “I believe life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you have to keep moving. It’s like the more I do the more I get done. I also believe in prioritizing and focusing on one thing at a time.” She appreciates brains before beauty and strongly believes that education is the most powerful weapon that we can use to empower ourselves and enrich our lives. “After all, we are our greatest investment.”

The one influential person that Reschelle wants to meet is the former Miss World and Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss. That would be a dream come true for her, because she believes that she is the epitome of a role model. “She is such an inspiration to me in the way she keeps such a healthy balance in her life. I also want to become a medical doctor so our shared passion for medicine makes her an even greater inspiration for me.”
