Pageantry has evolved over the years and isn’t merely a beauty competition as often considered. It is now a platform in which young, talented, beautiful girls and women alike compete for the opportunity to represent causes that are dear to them.

Reschelle Beukes is the Standard Bank Miss High School title holder 2019 and has already warmed the hearts of many with her grace and beauty. With the weight of her responsibility she has already embarked on numerous projects that aim to uplift various communities. One of which is to plan the first matric ball for Mount View High School.

Her main purpose with this platform is to inspire girls to challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone. “That is the only way one can grow and discover one’s true potential."

Apart from being the Miss High School title holder, she was also Miss Windhoek High School 2018. According to her, taking part in that pageant was always a dream of hers and the journey having led up to that moment was a dream come true.

Her aim afterwards was to represent her school to the best of her ability and leave a mark in her community even in the slightest way.

Her biggest motivations are ensuring the success of her projects and trying to impact the lives of her fellow peers. According to her however, she didn’t expect to win Miss High School, so it came to her as a shock when her name was called. “Of course I’m grateful for the wonderful opportunity that has been given to me. However, I’m most of all thankful for the blessing from my Heavenly Father.”

Reschelle always dares to see the positive side of any and every situation. Hence, why she considers optimism as her best trait. Most would describe her personality as kind, loving and forgiving. Oddly enough, even though one might think she’s a veteran in the pageant world, she has only ever competed in two pageants; the Miss WHS and Miss High school pageant. “If you would have told me 3 years ago I would have done 2 pageants in about a year and a half I would not have believed you. Seeing that pageantry has never actually been my forte I would say 2 is 2 too many.”

Furthermore, due to the community work that she has been involved in, she’s witnessed the necessities of the underprivileged, as well as meet open hearted people who are willing to give without gaining anything in return. Seeing peoples’ generosity was refreshing and she believes that there is hope for our nation.
