From where are such lazy lumps born!” And he went straight to his son's bedroom and knocked the door loudly. Rubbing his eyes, his son Mihir opened the door, “What papa! I was having such a sound sleep!” “Is this the time to sleep?” He showed him the watch and said, “Look, it is eight-o'clock. That Rahul, son of Navneet bhai, reaches the temple everyday early in the morning and you like 'Kumbh karna' keep on sleeping.” Mihir grumbled, “What great benefit did he get after worshipping? Whole day he goes about getting irritated. Then, he calls himself a devotee after putting tilak and stuff! At that moment Minakshiben came from the kitchen, “Come on both of you, I have prepared hot poha!” On hearing this Pankaj bhai said, “Without bath not a morsel of food should be taken, that is what our religious scriptures say. Here, just on waking up, you straight have bed tea. Oh God! When will these people understand the value of our culture?” Without paying any attention to what he said, Mihir settled himself at the table. Pankajbhai started having breakfast grudging silently. After a few minutes the door bell rang. Minakshiben opened the door. “Oh! Kanchanben! Please come in and join us for breakfast.” Minakshiben welcomed her neighbor. “Oh! Good! I came at the correct time.” I have made this 'Khichu' (An Indian dish) and I thought that Mihir loves it, so I brought it. Mihir rushed to get the plate, “Wow! Kanchan aunty what a pleasant surprise.” Thank you very much. Your khichu is really awesome.” “Very good then, eat to your heart's content, It is less, please come and take some more. We'll meet afterwards leisurely,” saying this, Kanchan aunty left. Mihir said “Mummy, I don't want to eat this Poha. I will eat Khichu only.” Suppressed anger of Pankajbhai burst out. “Will you leave this plate like this? Minakshi don't give him that khichu. Let him finish this breakfast first, only then he will get khichu. I don't like anybody leaving food in their plate.” Mihir got up angrily. “Papa in every matter you are nagging – I don't want to eat. I am so fed up of your nagging. To live in a hostel is far better than this. Instead of listening to your grumbling every day, there will be peace there.” Trying to turn the situation Minakshiben said, “Listen, I will eat the breakfast left in Mihir's plate so there is no wastage of food. Ok. Now! Come on Mihir please eat khichu. It is not good to get angry over breakfast. Pankajbhai bowed down his head on the photo of God as if he was banging it and left for the office. Minakshiben rushed behind him saying, “He is our child. I will explain to him; you do not get tensed up. Go to the office with a smile, a grumpy face does not look good. OK? Jay shree Krishna.” On the other hand, Mihir started thinking, “During whole day while doing household work, how much mummy is letting go! She is taking so many adjustments. Since so many years papa has been going to the temple, worshiping and doing bhakti, still he is always irritated and angry the whole day. While Mummy hardly gets time to go to the temple, her whole day passes in doing household work and taking care of all the members of the family. Even then she has no complaints for any one. Who has achieved the essence of true religion?” Let us see what Dadashri says about this... Akram Youth | 07
