H
e felt happy that he could offer this to the monk even
though nothing was left for him to eat.
By virtue of this noble conduct the
boy was blessed with Punya karma.
‘Bhadra Shethäni’ and ‘Gobhadra Sheth’. His
life was full of riches and heavenly pleasures.
While Shalibhadra was still a young boy his
father renounced the world to become a
monk. His mother provided him all the
comforts and luxury. It was said that even the
heavenly beings were jealous of his lavish
lifestyle.
The moral of the story is that any act or
deed committed with good intentions is
bound to form punya karmas.
Dadashri says “ Apne koi ne
sukh apiye tou apanne sukh
maley and dukh apiye tou dukh
maley” meaning if we cause
happiness to others, we will in
turn receive happiness for
ourselves in manifolds. If we
give sufferings to other, we get
sufferings. It is the intention
behind the act that is
important.
