ERICA LAUREN RUBIN LIPP
My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music.
~ Psalm 57:8 ohvk-t hck iufb vrnztu vrhat hck iufb
I am deeply honored and grateful to be ordained as a Cantor and to receive my Master’ s degree in Jewish Studies from the Academy for Jewish Religion. This moment marks the culmination of a meaningful journey shaped by learning and a deep love for Jewish sacred song and communal leadership.
I offer my gratitude to the entire AJR community for its unwavering support and wisdom throughout this journey. I am especially thankful to Cantor Lisa Klinger-Kantor, Cantor Sol Zim, and Cantor Michael Kasper, whose mentorship and guidance have sustained and inspired me at every stage of my formation as a cantor and spiritual leader.
I am honored to serve as Cantor and Jewish Educator at Congregation L’ Dor V’ Dor in Oyster Bay, New York. I extend my deepest thanks to Rabbi Steven Moskowitz, Congregational President Dr. Bruce Rebold, Congregational Past President Martin Neidell, all of those on the board, the amazing staff, and the extraordinary congregation for their trust and steadfast encouragement. I feel profoundly blessed to serve this community.
Over the past decade, I have served congregations throughout the Northeast in a range of clergy and educational roles, including Beth Am Temple in Pearl River, NY; Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne, NJ; and the Jewish Center of the Moriches on Long Island. I am also honored to serve as faculty at Eisner Camp, a URJ summer camp.
I earned my B. A. in Anthropology from Barnard College, Columbia University, graduating magna cum laude, and studied vocal performance at the Manhattan School of Music. I hold a Master’ s degree in Education from St. John’ s University. As a classically trained coloratura soprano, I have performed leading operatic roles throughout Europe, and I am currently working on an album of original Jewish music centered on themes of peace and healing.
Above all, I offer my deepest gratitude and love to my amazing husband, Jonathan. His unwavering belief in me and constant support sustained me through years of study and spiritual growth; this achievement is as much his as it is mine. I could not have reached this moment without my parents, Howard and Nancy, whose sacrifices and faith laid the foundation for everything I have become. I also thank my in-laws, Joyce and Douglas, my sisters, Jennifer and Aimee, my sons, Isaac and Noah, and my step-daughters, Alexa and Samantha, whose love, resilience, and joy are my greatest blessings and daily inspiration.
