What your role could involve.
This role is key in supporting aircrew to integrate into and operate an Air System safely, survive in the case of an accident and provide protection to passengers, alongside enabling and supporting airborne delivery operations.
Survival Equipment Technicians- known in the RAF as Aircraft Technician Survival Equipment- are highly skilled engineering professionals responsible for the maintenance, repair, integration, and testing of life-saving Aircrew Equipment Assemblies, Airborne Forces Equipment, and Airborne Life Support Equipment. These systems are designed to safeguard aircrew and passengers during flight, emergencies, and survival situations, ensuring operational safety and mission success.
This role is pivotal in enabling aircrew to integrate seamlessly into Air Systems, operate safely, and survive in the event of an accident. It also provides critical support to Airborne Forces, enabling them to conduct airborne delivery operations effectively. As part of the RAF’ s Engineering Air Technician specialisation, Survival Equipment personnel also contribute to frontline operations as aircraft see-in / see-off flight line technicians, ensuring aircraft are expertly prepared, replenished, and serviced to maintain operational effectiveness and mission readiness.
