If you are good with numbers and computers, you could put those skills to use in one of the fastest growing areas of our economy. The financial services sector is booming thanks in large part to the growth Northwest Arkansas is experiencing.
Careers in financial services include accounting and auditing, financial planning, credit counseling, loan officers, stock brokers, financial analysts and credit analysts. Many of these jobs are part of the banking industry. While the Bureau of Labor statistics predicts the number of financial services jobs will grow eight percent nationally by 2024, but that number is much higher in Northwest Arkansas.
According to the Northwest Arkansas Workforce Connection, an additional 1,700 workers will be needed in addition to the thousands of people already working in finance. Many of the jobs require a college degree, but there are some positions where you can begin a financial career out of high school and work your way up.
At banks, the classic entry level job is bank teller or customer service representative. Nearly 300 additional tellers will be needed to go with almost 800 already working. To work at any bank, you must first have graduated high school or have a GED.
