The role of the public is vital in helping to shape and develop future health and care services that understand and meet the needs of people and patients . Our Public and Patient Involvement Lead , Graham Prestwich , explains how we are giving people a voice to shape healthcare services so that they deliver better and more patient centred outcomes .

We do this successfully by having patients and the public at the heart of our work . Their early and ongoing involvement is essential for the successful implementation of any product or service design programme as it is their insights , experiences and ideas that will help optimise the benefits of innovation . Over the last 12 months we have been working on several interesting and exciting projects .
