-What advice would you give to someone wanting to join the industry?
This industry will swallow you whole!!!!..and it doesn’t matter if you desire to be a Christian artist or not…both sides are infused and influenced by the worlds principles. Serve. Serve. Serve, and make sure this is where God desires to use you. The limelight is what everyone is drawn to but the ultimate training ground of character and motive building is SERVING. Serve in your local ministry, make it happen for somebody else! That way you get the knowledge and the insight that you need to manoeuvre in this industry.
-How does it feel to have people look up to you and follow your music?
Honored, that God has decided to captivate an audience with the anointing He has placed in me.
-Being a woman that inspires, who are some people that have inspired you?
I don’t have to look far, as I come from a very strong line of women. I reflect on the attributes of both of my grandmothers, my mother, mother figures (I have about 4-lol), and mother-In law. I love the tenacity of singers such as Jill Scott, Shirley Verrett, and Mandisa. I love the creativity of Becka Shae, and Group 1 Crew, in addition to the longevity of The Clark Sisters, Chaka Kahn, and Dolly Parton.
-What influenced your decision to pursue your style of genre?
I have specific divine instructions to speak to nations on His behalf, and You can’t reach everyone by singing hymns. I’ve always been a little edgy and different when it comes to listening to music for as long as I can remember…why not sing what you feel comfortable ministering.
