ot all veterans are getting the help they require. Men usually get the help they need, but most times, women do not, which creates injustice and inequality throughout the VA. One example is Desma Brooks. She served part time in the Indiana National Guard, and in 2001, she was deployed. Her convoy ran over an IED, and she was injured. She had mild traumatic brain injury and a serious case of PTSD.

The VA or Veterans Affairs is a government organization created to give veterans the help they require, be it loans, healthcare, and so much more. They offer veterans with PTSD the help they need. But it takes women to longer to get accepted into the care they need. In Desma’s case, it took her several months. She was even told that at the office they didn’t think she was a veteran. They thought she was just there to pick up meds for her spouse.
