Jewish Community Shocked About Recent Hate Crimes

On Monday, March 12th, Jewish communities all across the country were the target of bomb threats by people that hate Jews. There are many hate crimes against all types of religion, but only one religion will be the focus, the Jews. An example of Jews being disenfranch-ised is the Holocaust, which took place from January 30th, 1933, to May 8th, 1945. During that time, they were thrown out of their homes and forced into concentration camps where they had little food, water, and living space.

Presently, crimes against Jews aren’t as severe as they were back then, but crimes directed at Jews have risen dramatically over the past few years. Crimes against Jews, which make up less than 2% of the population (JTA), have risen at least 9% in the past three years. One instance was when a Jewish cemetery was ‘desecrated’ with over 100 tombstones either knocked over or heavily damaged (Wildman). As the first Amendment states, ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ this means that the Jews must be protected and allowed to practice their religion.
