Now heading into 2017, Trump has been elected president and wants to remove more illegal immigrants than ever. The president signed an executive order on February 21, allowing anyone who is here illegal for more than two years to be deported immediately with no court. He also wants to speed up the deportation process, making the price for deporting illegal immigrants greater. It makes the price greater because they are deporting them in greater quantities.
The impact of deportation has affected the United States greatly, but it has affected families with deported members more. It affects the tax payers, which have to pay to deport the illegal immigrant. But the people who suffer the most are the kids the immigrants leave behind.
In the United States 5.5 Million children in the U.S have a parent who is here illegally. 4.5 million of these children are citizens. When the government deports the children’s parents, the ones who are here illegally, they leave the legal children without anyone to care for them. This leaves the governmen to pay for foster care. In 22 states at least 5,100 are in foster care, and if they keep deporting the parents the ARC expects more than 15,000 children in the next five years.
