The Impact of Immigration

Deporting families has a major impact on the United States government. They have to pay millions to house children who have their families taken away by deportation. Plus, the cost to deport someone is a lot. The people who pay for the deportation falls on tax payers.

The cost to deport someone is more or less than $23,480. The biggest cost is detaining the illegal immigrant and taking them into custody, which is about $18,310. All the other costs are minimal but can add up pretty quickly. If the United States would undergo mass deportation for five years, they would be wasting over $285 billion dollars.

When the government deports someone, they might not know if the immigrant has a family. In some families, the parents might be illegal and the children aren’t. Leaving children without any guardian can be another cost for the government, making the government pay millions for foster care and health issues that the children might have.
