Thanks to the pioneering efforts of the likes of the late Manute Bol of the Sudan, Hakeem ‘The Dream’ Olajuwon, Dikembe Mutombo and lately the Vice President and Managing Director of the NBA in Africa; Amadu Gallo Fall and the vibrant and dynamic Masai Ujiri (General Manager of the Toronto Raptors), Basketball is now becoming a mainstay among sports disciplines on the African continent.

Today there are about 60 players in the NBA that are directly from Africa joining their African American brothers in the US to dominate the Game globally.

FIBA has revitalized the Game and Afrobasket is keenly and competitively contested these days in Africa. With the addition and popularization of the 3x3 format of basketball, the game is even expected to hit a new high in its popularity.
