Namibia ’ s adventure hub is Swakopmund , a rather surreal former colonial town famed for its German-themed culture and architecture as well as adrenalin-sports , such as skydiving and sandboarding , sure to appeal to thrill seekers .
The Namib-Naukluft Park is one of the world ’ s largest conservation areas . Its wide open spaces are framed by purple-blue mountains and impossible sunsets making it a place of singular beauty and peace . Another epic Namibian landscape is Sossusvlei , characterised by the endless sea of soaring rust-orange dunes , the bleached white pan ( Deadvlei ) and knotted ancient trees . If time allows , Fish River Canyon won ’ t fail to impress , Walvis Bay known for its wetland areas , quaint Lüderitz , and Windhoek , the country ’ s capital which also has a distinctly European feel .
