ROVOS RAIL
Since its establishment in 1989 , Rovos Rail has gained an international reputation for its truly world-class travel experiences . Each train is comprised of vintage wood-panelled coaches carrying up to 72 passengers in 36 superbly appointed suites . At the rear of the train is the Observation Car , while at the train ’ s centre are one or two dining cars and two lounges with large picture windows , sofas and booths , which are ideal for mingling or quietly whiling the days away . Maintaining the spirit of travel of a bygone era , there are no radios or televisions on board .
All meals and drinks on board are included , beginning with full breakfast ( hot dishes cooked to order ), while lunch and dinner are four-course meals complemented by fine South African wines . There ’ s an accent on fresh local ingredients and traditional dishes are a speciality , all enhanced by fine china and glassware , crisp linen and silver . Accordingly , daytime dress is elegant yet casual , while evening attire is more formal .
Accommodation is in a pullman suite which has a comfortable sofa-seat by day that converts to double or twin beds by night . Upgraded deluxe suites offer twin or double beds and lounge area with mini bar ( drinks included ), while Royal suites , which take up half a carriage , also have a Victorian bath and separate shower . All suites are ensuite ( shower only in pullman and deluxe ), have a safe , and round the clock services of a cabin steward .

Lasting from 48 hours to 15 nights they include Cape Town to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania ; the desert landscapes in Namibia ; and a panoramic journey through South Africa , eSwatini , Mozambique and Zimbabwe .

THE BLUE TRAIN
A journey on the iconic Blue Train is sure to be the crowning jewel in your South African holiday . Royalty , presidents and adulated celebrities have all indulged on this magnificent , moving five-star “ hotel-on-wheels ’, but its spectacular luxury can be experienced by everyone on a choice of two journeys .
Two lounges provide convivial spaces in which to relax and build new friendships ; the Club Car and Lounge Car . The wood-panelled Club Car ( smoking lounge ) has the feel of a gentleman ’ s club while the beautifully designed Lounge Car ( non-smoking ) is an ideal venue to relax , feast on afternoon High Tea , or sip a nightcap and round off a perfect evening . At the rear of the train , the Observation Car has large windows allowing you to absorb the panoramic views of the passing scenery .
All meals and drinks ( except caviar and French Champagne ) are included and served in the delightful Dining Car , where The Blue Train lives up to its five star reputation in every sense with fine cuisine accompanied by a wide selection of South African wine . Lunch is elegant yet casual and , in keeping with tradition , dinner is more formal with an opportunity to don your finest attire .
Accommodation is in a deluxe suite which transforms from an elegant and relaxing lounge by day into a comfortable bedroom by night , with a choice of twin or double beds and either a three-quarter sized bath or shower . Amenities include a safe , entertainment system , WiFi and the 24 hour services of a butler . Larger luxury suites also offer twin or double beds and full size luxurious bath or shower .
