SPRING 2013 Adviser Update 1 Page 11A Summer Workshop Extras 6 W hen I sent out a call for summer workshop photos to dress up our annual workshop listing included in this issue, I never expected the number of images I would receive. These sessions allow students to learn about additional journalism and/or staff-related issues outside of their core class. This year the workshop hosted five classes for students to choose from: Editorial Leadership, Yearbook, Photojournalism, Layout and Design, and Literary Magazine. More than 500 students from five states joined in on the auction using Dallas Dollars they had earned for quality work during the workshop. This year’s workshop runs July 7-11 at the Marriott Quorum in Addison. Japsen serves as a special roving instructor each summer, lending professional expertise to more than 150 high school students. This summer’s workshops are July 14 -18, in Iowa City.
