New! Forest Bathing
Shinrin-yoku is a Japanese term that means "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest
bathing." A trained guide from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy will take
you through a sequence which opens the door to the therapy of nature. Forest bathing
includes walking at a slow pace, sitting, and standing. Talking is minimal. The practice
allows for both an individualized and shared experience. Stress reducing benefits can last
for days! The session closes with a sharing of tea brought by the guide. Susan Thompson
Being Mortal
Based on the best-selling book by Dr. Atul
Gawande, explore how to live a very good
life in the face of your own mortality—
and what matters to you in the end. Take
this opportunity to consider how you
want to live at the end of your life. We'll
also address the role of medication and
communication. You are encouraged to
either read the book Being Mortal or view
the PBS Frontline special, but you are not
required to do either to benefit from this
discussion. Mary O'Brien
