The Misconception About
Marijuana Addiction
Yes, physical addiction to marijuana is inexistent.
This is a misconception that a lot of people have failed to jettison. Because this myth
cannot be overemphasized, it is very important to clarify the doubts of a lot of people.
Comparing cigarette smokers to marijuana smokers is absolutely unacceptable. For
cigarette smokers, it takes a huge amount of efforts and intentional struggle to cut off the
addiction. But marijuana smokers (medically referred to as cannabis smokers) are hardly
inclined towards the substance. Between a cigarette and marijuana, the cigarette is more
packed with highly addictive components such as nicotine. Thus, the amount of effort
required by a cigarette smoker to quit cigarette is higher than what is expected of a
marijuana smoker. From experience polls, cigarette addiction requires efforts such as
smoking cessation programs, hypnosis, strong will to quit, Wellbutrin pills. Interestingly,
some medical experts prescribe marijuana to cigarette addicts whenever they seek to
quit. This is because Cannabis as a herb is well suited to provide herbal healing remedy for
the addicts
For many people, cannabis treatment for cigarette addiction is a jolly ride for them
because of the slim chance of addiction. However, few amongst these people are
generally prone to marijuana addiction.
In 1994, National Comorbidity Survey stated that the 'dependence' on marijuana was
found in 9% of those that were placed on cannabis treatment. But not everyone
transitioned into chain marijuana smokers. In the study, it was discovered that the
dependence on cannabis or marijuana has the lowest occurrence amongst other
substances.
